Embodied Yoga Immersion July 2 - 8

Returning to Portugal Yurt Eco Retreat this year Blanche will host 2 weeks of Embodied Yoga, Mindfulness and Somatic Movement. Come and enjoy this beautiful and tranquil space which is ideally suited to the nature of this work, retreating from our lives and everyday routines for a week of healing, resting and nurturing.

Blanche is a Yoga and Mindfulness Teacher Trainer with Still Flowing Yoga, as well as a Shiatsu bodyworker and training in Somatic Movement Education. In her words:

I offer a therapeutic and mindful approach to yoga, using asana (yoga postures) and awareness of our breathing to open up the body, heart and mind. The poses are used as a tool to enquire into what we are experiencing in the moment, to come closer to our tensions and habitual patterns of movement so we can release any contractions and resistance, so we can lighten up and live a little more freely. This practice orients us towards experiencing pleasure and deep rest within movement, discovering our internal sense of connection and regulation.

The morning sessions will involve dynamic and flowing yoga sequences, exploring the body 'somatically' (from within), moving from external alignment to awareness of internal space and greater freedom. In the evenings we will practice Mindfulness Meditation: this is a chance to (dare to!) slow down in the midst of our lives. By getting quiet with ourselves and developing a deep inner listening we can start to explore how we inhabit the body, the nature of mind and our feelings...  This will be explored in a variety of ways (walking meditation, restorative yoga postures, and other practices that cultivate somatic awareness `felt sense´), as often the body is not ready to sit comfortably in meditation without unwinding our tensions and releasing some stress first. With deep relaxation we can learn to dissolve tension and find out who we are when these tensions start to drop away.

This retreat is suitable for beginners as well as those who wish to dive more deeply into their yoga and meditation practice
